Clinical Practice

I have over 30 years of clinical experience in Endocrinology. Before moving to the UK my clinical commitments included management of about 500 new referrals annually with endocrine problems or diabetes, in addition to supervision and training of junior medical staff in my firm. I established a tertiary Reproductive Endocrine Clinic which attracted referrals from all over Yugoslavia. I pioneered the use of anti-androgen therapy for the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in Europe. In 1991, two years before proceeding on a sabbatical leave I also established the first dedicated Menopause Clinic in former Yugoslavia.

My current weekly clinical commitments include two Reproductive Endocrine Clinics, one dedicated Menopause Clinic and one Endocrine/Osteoporosis Clinic.

In my clinics I see women with wide range of hormonal disorders including a lack of periods or irregular periods, premenstrual syndrome, excessive hair growth (hirsutism), hyperprolactinaemia, infertility as well as women with thyroid disorders particularly those who want to get pregnant. I have a long standing and extensive clinical expertise in the management of PCOS and I was among the pioneers in using metformin for the management of this disorder.

A significant proportion of my clinical practice is management of peri- and post-menopausal women, giving them advice on the risks and benefits of HRT and individually tailoring and monitoring HRT. For many years I have had a special interest in providing young women with premature menopause with comprehensive advice regarding fertility and managing their estrogen deficiency.

I see both women and men with low bone density or osteoporosis for diagnosis and management of their condition.
